Raised Bed Soil Calculator
Work out how much soil a raised bed takes, what that is in bags or cubic yards, and how it splits across a standard mix.
The bed
The square-foot mix is usually written with peat. It is not here: peat bogs are carbon sinks that took thousands of years to form, and coir or leaf mould does the same job in a bed this size.
Fill depth is how deep the growing medium goes, which is not always the height of the frame. Most vegetables root happily in 10–12″; carrots, parsnips and daikon want more.
