This is a small site run by one person. Here's the honest accounting of what happens to your data when you visit.

What this site does and doesn't do

This is a static site. There are no accounts and no logins. The only form that stores anything is the optional newsletter signup, described below — nothing else you type is saved.

I don't use analytics that follow you around — no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel. I do keep two tallies of my own, and they are only ever tallies: how many times each page is viewed, and how many times each affiliate link is clicked. No cookies, no IP addresses, no identifiers of any kind go into them, so there is nothing in either one that points back to you. On top of that I run Awin's affiliate tracking (see below), which does set a cookie — but only if you accept it. The banner on your first visit is a real switch: decline and the Awin script is never loaded at all, on any page.

If you accept on the banner, Awin's affiliate tag sets a cookie when you click one of my affiliate links, so the referral can be credited to me. If you decline, that script never loads and no such cookie is set — your choice is remembered in your own browser. Beyond that I don't set cookies for visitors; the only others in play are whatever Render and Cloudflare need to serve the pages to you.

If you enter your email in the signup form, that address is sent to my email provider, Resend, and stored on a contact list so I can send you occasional updates about new recipes and field notes. I only ever use it for that. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can ask me to delete your address at any time. If you never sign up, no email of yours is collected.

There is a second, separate list behind the signup on my link-in-bio page — that one is for the brands I'm an affiliate for, and signing up to one list never adds you to the other. It works the same way: stored with Resend, unsubscribe link in every email, deleted on request.

Third-party services

Render hosts the site and runs everything dynamic on it — the newsletter signup, the affiliate link redirects, and the private dashboard I use. Render may keep basic request logs to operate the service and protect against abuse. See Render's Privacy Policy.

Cloudflare handles DNS for ginamakesbread.dev, so Cloudflare may see request metadata. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

Affiliate links — I'm a King Arthur Baking affiliate and an Amazon Associate. I run Awin's Publisher Master Tag site-wide — it converts my King Arthur links into tracked links and sets a cookie when you click one — and my Amazon links carry my Amazon Associate tag. Some links here (every /go/ link, including the ones on my link-in-bio page) hop through a counter on this site first: that adds one to a tally for that link, notes which channel the link was shared on if the link itself says so, and sends you straight on. Either way the referral is credited to me and I earn a small commission if you buy something, at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Local browser storage

The site remembers two preferences in your own browser using localStorage: your temperature unit (°F or °C) and your calculator mode (grams or %). That's it. This data never leaves your device, and I never see it.

Children

This site isn't aimed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect data from them.

If anything meaningful about data collection changes, I'll update this page. The date of the last change is at the bottom.
